Traffic Awareness Week

The Traffic Awareness Week in collaboration with volunteers from Kohima Village Youth Organization was observed from March 30 to April 2, 2016 at Kohima. The purpose of the Traffic Awareness Week was to make people understand the importance of road safety as road traffic accidents have become the single largest threat to our community. The theme of the Traffic Awareness Week was “Safety, No Road Accident”. The general public of Kohima participated enthusiastically at the awareness programme on March 30 at 0900 hrs in front of WHQ (Wireless Headquarter) Office below PHQ Kohima. Shri L.L. Doungel, IPS, DGP Nagaland was the chief guest on the occasion. The Kohima police also delivered lectures on road safety alongwith demonstration of traffic hand signals on March 31 at G. Rio Higher Secondary School and at Mezhur Higher Secondary School. The programme was followed by issuing of “Flyers” to the school children’s to create awareness and to get familiarize with the Traffic Rules and Traffic Signals. To follow-up with the awareness programme, the police drivers including those attached to Senior Police Officers in Kohima and all the drivers posted at Secretariat Kohima were imparted with an orientation course on “Rules of the Road Regulations” to ensure an orderly traffic and a safer journey.
